Efficient near-infrared-emitting cationic iridium complexes based on highly conjugated cyclometalated benzo[g]phthalazine derivatives

Two near-infrared-(NIR-) emitting cationic iridium(III) complexes, [Ir(dpbpa)(2)(Bphen)]+PF6- (1) and [Ir(dtbpa)(2)(Bphen)]+PF6- (2), were rationally designed and synthesized, where dpbpa, dtbpa, and Bphen represent 1,4-diphenylbenzo[g]-phthalazine, 1,4-di(thiophen-2-yl)benzo[g]phthalazine and 4,7-dipheny1,10-phenanthroline, respectively. By using highly conjugated cyclometalated benzo[g]phthalazine ligands, these two complexes exhibited a significantly large red shift in wavelength to the truly NIR region with maximum peaks at 715 nm for 1 and 775 nm for 2. Complex 1 exhibited unexpectedly improved quantum efficiency up to 6.1% in the solid films. Based on these solution-processable phosphors, NIR organic-light-emitting devices (OLEDs) have been fabricated and demonstrated negligible efficiency roll-off with nearly constant external quantum efficiency around 0.5% over a wide range of current density of 1-100 mA cm(-2). Density functional theory calculations were performed to discover that the newly cyclometalated benzo[g]phthalazine ligands have several areas of superiority over the previous benzo[g]quinoline ligands in views of stronger Ir-N bonds, smaller chelate congestion, higher electron-accepting ability, thus improving the overall phosphorescence of the corresponding iridium complexes in the NIR region.

The previously synthesized 1H-pyrazolo [1,2-b]phthalazine-5,10-dione derivatives, carbonic anhydrase I and II isozymes (hCA I and II), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) and alpha-glycosidase (alpha-Gly) enzymes with K-i values in the range of 4.88-15.94 nM for hCA I, 7.04-20.83 nM for hCA II, 68.25-158.27 for AChE, 60.17-91.27 for BChE and 0.36-2.36 nM for alpha-Gly, respectively. In silico studies were performed on the molecules inhibiting hCA I, hCA II, AChE, BChE and alpha-Gly receptors. When we evaluated the data obtained in this work, we determined the inhibition type of the 1H-pyrazolo[1,2-b]phthalazine-5,10-dione derivatives at the receptors. Reference inhibitors were used for all enzymes.

Synthesis and Antitumor Activity Evaluation of 3,6-Substituted-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-a]phthalazine Derivatives

With the aim of obtaining potential antitumor candidates with more efficiency and more economic value. A series of 3,6-substituted-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-a]phthalazine derivatives were synthesized. The target products were obtained via cyclization, chlorination, substitution, cyclization, substituted with phthalic anhydride used as the starting material. The structures of target products are confirmed by H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, HRMS. A series of 3,6-substituted-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-a] phthalazine derivatives was evaluated for anticancer activity on four human cancer cell lines including EC-9706, HeLa and MCF-7 by MTT assay. Among them, compound 5d was more cytotoxic against EC-9706 and HeLa cell lines, with IC50 values ranging from 3.9 to 4.5 mu mol.L-1, which are superior or comparable to 5-Fuorouracil. Flow cytometry analysis indicated that compound 5d induced the cellular early apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in G2/M phase in EC-9706.

A new series of novel compounds 1-tert-butyl-9-substituted-12H-indolo[2,3-c]isoquinolino[5,6-c]-1,2,4-triazoles (4a-4c), 10-substituted-2-phenyl-1,13-dihydroindolo[2,3-c]isoquinolino[5,6-c]-1,2,4-triazines (5a-5l), 2-(10-substituted-7H-indolo[2,3-c]isoquinolin-5-yl)-4-phenylphthalazin-1-ones (6a-6c), 2-[2-(10-substituted-7H-indolo[2,3-c]isoquinolinyl)hydrazinecarbonyl]benzoic acid (7a-7c), and 2-(10-substituted-7H-indolo[2,3-c]isoquinolin-5-yl)phthalazine-1,4-diones (8a-8c) were synthesized. The structures of these newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by their spectral studies and elemental analysis. These compounds have been screened for their antimicrobial, antitubercular, antioxidant, and cytotoxic activities. Compounds 4b, 5a, 5g, 5h, 6a, 6b, and 7b exhibited the maximum zone of inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus. Compounds 5d and 6c exhibited the maximum zone of inhibition against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Compounds 7a and 8c showed maximum zone of inhibition against Aspergillus niger. Compounds 5k and 8c showed maximum zone of inhibition against Aspergillus flavus. Compounds 4a (MIC-1.6 A mu g/ml) and 5 h (MIC-0.2 A mu g/ml) exhibited promising antitubercular activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv strain. Compounds 4b, 4c, 5a, 5c, 5e, 5h, 6a, 6b, 6c, 8a, and 8b exhibited good radical scavenging activity compared with standards. Compounds 4b, 4c, 5a, 5c, 5g, 6a, and 8b exhibited maximum reducing ability. Compounds 4a and 5h exhibited 100 % cell lysis at concentration 10 A mu g/ml.

Synthesis and positive inotropic evaluation of [1,2,4]triazolo [3,4-a]phthalazine and tetrazolo[5,1-a]phthalazine derivatives bearing substituted piperazine moieties

Four series of [1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-a]phthalazine and tetrazolo[5,1-a]phthalazine derivatives bearing substituted piperazine moieties were synthesized and evaluated for their positive inotropic activity by measuring the left atrium stroke volume in isolated rabbit-heart preparations. A preliminary study of mechanism of action revealed that 5g displayed its positive inotropic effect may be related to the PDE-cAMP-PKA signaling pathway. A high-strength PPESK/PVDF fibrous membrane prepared by coaxial electrospinning for lithium-ion battery separator

Electrospinning fibrous membranes have attracted a great deal of attention because of their advantages, including uniform pore size, large ratio surface area, and high porosity. For extended application in lithium-ion battery, it is essential to further improve their electrochemical, mechanical, and thermal properties. In this work, a new poly (phthalazine ether sulfone ketone) (PPESK)/polyvinyli-denefluoride (PVDF) core/shell fibrous membrane was fabricated via the coaxial electrospinning technique, followed by hot press. The PPESK/PVDF membrane hot pressed at 160 degrees C exhibits excellent comprehensive performance, including large porosity (80%), high electrolyte uptake (805%), and excellent thermal stability (at 200 degrees C). Moreover, due to the improved bonding effect derived from the solidification of the PVDF shell layer after the hot press, the mechanical property of the membrane is effectively enhanced. The electrochemical tests also indicate that the PPESK/PVDF membrane shows larger ionic conductivity and lower interfacial resistance when compared with commercial microporous polypropylene separator. In addition, simulated cells assembled with the PPESK/PVDF membrane present superior discharge capacity, stable cycle performance, and excellent rate capability. Therefore, the hot-pressed coaxial PPESK/PVDF fibrous membrane has the potential to be a promising candidate as the separator for high-performance lithium-ion battery.
